Boiserie Parlor

Amsterdam, circa 1790

The complete parlor – oak panelling, painted white-golden,
gilt ornaments.
The two carved supraportas show allegorical scenes which have been attributed to the Dutch artist Johannes van Dregt working in Amsterdam (1737-1807).

Comparison:
In the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam are wainscotted pilasters once owned by the merchant and art collector Joseph August Brentano,
their elaborately ornamented panels corresponding with the style
of the arabesque decoration of our Boiserie parlor.

Dimensions: height: 3.82 meters, outline: 6.57 by 4.71 meters
